I just got done reading the book cover to cover and would like to give my review. Even if you don't collect redbooks, you may consider this book. There is a lot of good history on the "Red Book" and in collecting trends in general. The quality of the material and depth of research shows Frank Colletti's obvious passion for the Red Book. The book gives a year by year account of each book published including special editions. It also gives a brief intro of numismatic happenings for each year. The book talks about changes made in each edition that has to do with new knowledge at the time and changing trends of the day. Another nice feature is the tracking of two popular Morgan dollar dates to show how the market changed with time and the release of morgans from the treasury from 1962 to 64. "Red Book recollections" is another nice feature that includes thought on the Red Book by contributers over the years. There is a section that talks about the silver rounds made for Whitman that could be purchased by buyers of the Red Book. A good descrition and photos of the rounds are included. Also included are sections on error copies and other associated collectables. I'm sure there are areas I did not cover. The book contains a wealth of information, a great addition to any coin collectors library in my opinion. It may even give you the itch to collect the Red Book and related collectables.
