Fuld 115/115A « Thread Started on Jul 16, 2009, 1:07pm »
Hello, I'm Dan. I'm 24 years old. I'm new to this group, but not new to CWT's
Last weekend I purchased a Fuld 115/115A (George Washington on one side, Marthia Washington on the other). I have read about these, but can't find the article in my old journals now. Does anyone have any information on this token? I'd like to know when it was discovered (it was not in the first Fuld books), etc. If you have done research on this token, please email me. Also I would like more information on this group, please. Is it online only? What is this group's history? I see a picture of what looks like a medal for this club, is there a medal? Can I purchase one? I look forward to hearing from anyone that wants to drop me a line. Dan

The Civil War Token Club was one idea in response to a quest to add membership and interest in coinzip. It was me that suggested the 'clubs' idea and I also volunteered to act as Moderator of the CWT Club for a time. I thought some sort of regular activities might spark some interest, and participation is slowly increasing now.
Our Civil War Token Club is a fledgling group, having started in March of 2009. We meet in a chatroom on Sunday evenings and until now, attendance has been sparse and erratic, often with only a few members in attendance. We hope to find more members and guests to attend, and registration on coinzip is not even necessary to attend. Anybody can bring up subjects to discuss. We just avoid token sales during meetings. Our general purpose is to collect tokens.
At present, I am the CWT Club's Moderator and I have 'moderated' all meetings thus far.
At present, the CWT Club 'medal' you mention is only artwork, at this stage, to promote the club and coinzip. The CWT Club artwork is mine. I worked it up on my computer. Here are three large versions...
Regarding your questions about 115/115A... Fuld 5th Edition (2005) lists copper, brass, white metal, copper-nickel and silver versions. I have seen one or two of these tokens in photos in the past couple of years. Which metal is yours made of?
I'm sure we'd all like to see photos of your token. : )
I hope you'll be able to take some time to look at the photos in various areas of the CWT category, and leave comments if you wish, and possibly add some photos for your own. You'd need to paste IMG code from a webhost like PhotoBucket to post images.
I also hope you join us for a meetings on Sunday evenings.
For practice, you may want to click on Coin Chat above, then enter the chatroom and see what's there. After entering, click on CWT Club. That's all there is to it. : )
Thank you for the warm welcomes! My 115/115A is a white metal. I bought it from a well known dealer and he labeled the 2x2 as it being the Fuld Plate token. It is currently at NGC and they will research this fact, and label it as such. It is a thrill to own such a token! I collect ALL CWT's, I know, I know everyone says to narrow ones focus, but hey I'm young! If at age 80 I have 7,000 of over 10,000 types, I'll be happy! lol I dream BIG! I like Suttler's too I might add. Larry, your design is great! I'd like to see you make a patch, pin, or medal with the design and sell them! I have to ask you. I want to have a wooden nickel made with the "Good for a scent" dog head design. I need a computer made line drawing to have it made. Is this something you can do? I love that die! It is so funny! I do not yet own one. I see there are members from all over the U.S. and a mix of male and female members. This is great! Anyone from Michigan on here? I have noted that there are some CWT collectors around me that are not members of the CWTS! I can't understand this! Many CW token collectors are on their own little island, in their own world. I like to talk tokens, and share information. I don't know how often I'll make the Sunday night meetings, but hey I'll try. Larry, if you are a CWTS member maybe you would want to write a press release about this group to get membership up. I look forward to hearing from more collectors on here soon! Dan
Congrats on having a great token in the 115/115A. Good luck with this important grading and labeling.
As regards the wooden nickel design, if you can send me a photo in the next couple of weeks, which is not copyrighted, I'll see if I can modify it in PhotoShop, as time permits. : )
I've been thinking about my free 25-word ad for CWTS Journal. That might be a good use. Thanks. : )
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS/NGC/ICG/ANACS AU grades, with major emphasis on Half Dollars. I also collect the complete large set of Classic Commemoratives in PCGS/NGC/ICG MS63 or better.

Is your main collecting area Lincoln cents? I see you have a Lincoln cent as your profile picture. I am working on, and almost done with my set. The only *Key* I still need is 1931-S, which is an easy coin to find. I like CW tokens better, but I like Lincoln numismatics, so Lincoln cents is natural. I have 28 more coins to get. I also have a few other coins, such as type coins. But CWT's are my main focus. I love reading about them, collecting them, studying them, and talking about them!!! The spelling errors, funny designs ("Good for a Scent" showing a dogs head, one of my favs.) are so interesting!!! I have not even been a member of this site for a week, and I am so impressed with the kindness of the membership! Larry, you are great! You are very helpful! Thank you!
Congratulations on the grading. Now it's official, and in that variety, the difference in value between MS-63 and MS-65 might not be that great, since there are so few of them to be found. Any example in white metal should bring a ton, but it will probably never leave your collection now.
While George looks very nice, Martha looks fantastic. : )
Your images are very nice. Thanks for the update. : )
Thanks guys. Yeah this one will be tied up for a good while. I knew to jump on it when I saw it. Now I want a "Good for a Scent" with the dogs head on it. But no $$$$ for that right now.
