Does anyone have any info at all on this token? It's a Morse's Literary Depot, no 85 Fourth Street , Pittsburgh, PA.

I collect tokens of all kinds from Pittsburgh, but have seen nothing on this particular one anywhere.

I've not seen one like it, but I know somebody to ask.
I'll let you know after I reach him, which may take a few days.

I like Civil War Tokens and Civil War Store Cards and more recently, 18th Century British Conder Tokens.

I have also collected U.S. Type and a few commemorative issues, I have a very few ancients now, and an accumulation of various world coins.

Besides your token being upside down and backwards here is another for review.

Ben:
I don't know why, but that one looks familiar!

Have you posted it before?

Or do I have one?

Thanks, Larry. I've searched all my usual references and have come up with nothing.

Hi Guy,
According to Rulau's United States Tokens, this is a US Merchant Token, Pa 590 (Miller) and the likely date of issue would have been 1845-1847, based upon the address given on the token. If you come across this book, the token is shown on page 396. It's a very nice and unusual design!

Thanks for the info, Moonshadow. I'll have to keep an eye out for that book.
